State Department Celebrates LGBT Pride Month

June 23, 2010

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton spoke at an event celebrating Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Month at the State Department on June 22, recognizing "with gratitude the contributions made by LGBT members of the State Department family every single day." While celebrating the "progress that is being made here in our own country toward advancing the rights of LGBT Americans" and recognizing that there is still a lot to be done "but that we are moving together in the right direction," she reaffirmed the commitment of the United States to advance the rights of all human beings to live in dignity, "free to be themselves."
