The Department of State released its 2008 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices on February 25 in Washington. "Guaranteeing the right of every man, woman and child to participate fully in society and to live up to his or her God-given potential is an ideal that has animated our nation since its founding," said Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in remarks prior to a special briefing by Karen Stewart, Acting Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor.
