Mitsubishi Heavy Industries
Mitsubishi's shipbuilding complex in Nagasaki features the world's longest shipyard dock (1 km in length). It is the only facility in Japan that builds large-sized passenger cruise ships, including two completed in 2004 (the 116,000 ton "Diamond Princess" and "Sapphire Princess"). Mitsubishi Heavy Industry also produces various kinds of power generating equipment, and the Nagasaki facility is Japan's only maker of wind turbine generators.

Nippon Steel Yawata Works
Nippon Steel, formerly known as Yawata Steel Works, is the oldest steel producer in Japan. It was founded by the central government in Kitakyushu in 1901 as Japan's national iron and steel maker. Now a private corporation, Nippon Steel is headquartered in Tokyo but its Yawata Works remains the largest Nippon Steel production facility in terms of plant size and 4rd largest in terms of annual steel output. Nippon Steel also operates plants in Oita and Yamaguchi prefectures.

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. Kyushu Plant
The Kyushu Plant is the largest of Nissan Motor Co.'s six car assembly facilities in Japan. The plant produces many popular models for both domestic sales and export, including the Teana, Presage, Bluebird Sylphy, Murano, X-Trail, Primera, and Lafesta. Average production at the plant is 45,000 cars per month.

Headquartered in Kitakyushu, TOTO is one of the two largest toilet, bath and other plumbing-related products makers in Japan. TOTO is known for its innovation, especially in environmentally-friendly technologies, and is increasingly targeting foreign markets for export.

Toyota Motor Kyushu Inc.
Toyota Motor's Kyushu Plant, one of 15 in Japan, is the company's newest. It began operations in 1992 and makes passenger cars for both domestic and export markets, including the Harrier (export model: Lexus RX300) and the Kluger (export model: Toyota Highlander). The plant produced a record 254,000 cars in 2004. Starting in January 2006, models assembled at the Kyushu plant will be equipped with engines made in nearby Kanda-machi at Toyota's first new engine factory outside the Nagoya area.

Kitakyushu-based Zenrin Co. is a world-leading innovator in mapping software design, and is Japan's largest manufacturer of in-car navigation systems software based on GPS technology. Zenrin software-based systems are installed in virtually every new car manufactured in Japan.
