
Fukuoka Opens New Container Facility
March 20, 2009, Fukuoka – Principal Officer Carrington participated in the tape-cutting ceremony for the opening of a newly expanded container facility at the Port of Hakata’s Island City. With a depth of 15 meters and five operating gantry cranes, the state of the art facility can now deal with larger vessels, further enhancing Fukuoka’s importance as a transportation and marine hub.
Japanese officials and politicians from Tokyo, Fukuoka city and port officials, and other members of the local diplomatic community also took part in the event.
