Sept. 16, 2008, Fukuoka - Principal Officer Margot Carrington hosted a buffet dinner at her residence for 10 alumni of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). Guests included nine returnees and one grantee who will be traveling this fall. The IVLP alumni were from numerous cities within the consulate’s district. Several nominating officers and LES staff involved with the various participants’ programs also attended.

The gathering at the Principal Officer’s residence was organized to renew the Consulate’s contacts with former grantees. The informal get-together allowed participants to reminisce about their experience in the U.S. and reflect on the friendship they established with Americans from various walks of life as a result of the program. The gathering also allowed the FY-09 nominee, who will be traveling this fall, to learn more about the programs from those who already participated.
