Country Music and the American West Comes to Kumamoto!

Oct. 21, 2007 Kumamoto - Fans of Country Music from all over Japan gathered to scenic Mount Aso in Kumamoto prefecture on October 21 to experience the 19th annual Country Gold music festival. During the event, organized by Kumamoto native Charlie Nagatani, nearly 20,000 fans enjoyed performances by American performers Mark Chesnutt, Cherryholmes, The Lost Trailers, and Bomshel. Japan's NHK satellite television channel will broadcast highlights of the event on November 20. A delegation from Kumamoto's sister state Montana, which was led by Montana Lt. Governor John Bohlinger and included Miss Rodeo Montana 2007 Megan Hardy, also participated in the event. Lt. Governor Bohlinger, Hardy and Principal Officer Margot Carrington all made remarks to a receptive crowd decked out in country western gear. The U.S. Meat Export Federation was there as well with a wildly popular "chuck wagon" style booth selling U.S. beef to the eager fans.
