Dance Exchange Crosses Cultures

Yamaguchi - The Liz Lerman Dance Exchange and the Japan Contemporary Dance Network partnered with the Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media for classes with Yamaguchi citizens from Feb. 1-10, culminating in a performance at the Center on Feb. 11. Liz Lerman called the collaboration a rewarding cross-generational and cross-cultural exchange, noting that several senior citizens joined in the classes and performance. The workshops were part of the creation process for "Prayer as a Radical Act" which will premiere in March at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. The American Embassy supported the Yamaguchi workshops and subsequent workshops held in Fukuoka Feb. 15-25.
