Teaching Ethics - It Starts at Home

Sept. 13

Nagasaki - Public Affairs Officer John Dyson met with the Nagasaki Japan-America Society and Nagasaki Parent Teacher Associations and discussed family education issues. Mr. Dyson explained that ethics and civility need to be taught by parents in the home long before children start their formal education. He stressed that love in the home is an important factor in children's confidence and self-esteem. He suggested that assigning children chores in the home is an important step in teaching them to take responsibility for their own actions and that this trait carries through in their study patterns and work ethics as they grow.
