Nuclear Aircraft Carrier USS Abraham Lincoln Completes Successful Port Call

Sasebo - The USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), a Nimitz Class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, completed a successful May 25-29 port call to Sasebo. Local dignitaries, the community, and Sasebo police complimented the Consulate on an outstanding visit. The Lincoln hosted a reception on May 25 for over 400 guests. The Vice Mayor of Sasebo gave a congratulatory speech in English and the Lincoln's Commander responded with welcome remarks in Japanese. About 700 people toured the Lincoln during a series of tours on May 28.
