Kumamoto - Georgetown Visiting Professor Robert Sutter spoke on "Recent China-Southeast Relations and Implications for U.S. Foreign Policy" before about three hundred students, professors, and business leaders at Kumamoto Gakuen University. He stressed that the United States plays a strong role in both economic and political stability, and that its contributions are recognized if not always appreciated by major Southeast Asia governments. Students and professors from the Kumamoto University also attended the lecture. After the program, Kumamoto Gakuen University hosted a luncheon meeting for Dr. Sutter with its professors and local business leaders.
