Consulate Sponsors "American Corner" at Western Japan Total Living Show

Kitakyushu - Six American companies or sales agents exhibited a variety of U.S. housing materials at the "American Corner" of the 25th Western Japan Total Living Show, held in Kitakyushu City. Sponsored by the Commercial Section of U.S. Consulate Fukuoka, the "American Corner" featured such goods as roofing materials and insulation, miniature model homes, bathroom fixtures, doorknobs, windows, and exterior lighting. Consulate Economic/Commercial Officer Blair LaBarge joined in the opening ceremony and tape cutting. U.S. Consulate-General Osaka assisted with recruitment of U.S. participants. The show, the largest of its kind in western Japan, included a total of 138 exhibitors and attracted over 27,000 visitors during its four-day run.
