Avian Flu -How to Coordinate a Local Response

Fukuoka - Following up on last October's program on the threat of an avian flu global pandemic, David Heyman, Director of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Homeland Security Program, spoke on "Preparing for and Coping with a Pandemic: The Avian Flu Threat" at the American Center. The lecture focussed on organizing emergency responses to prevent the spread of avian flu and other contagious diseases. Government officials and private-sector professionals engaged in such matters as avian flu and infectious disease control, health and public hygiene, national and public security, food safety, and poultry farming, attended the session.
