Navy Base Commander Meets the Local Press

Sasebo - Captain Tilghman Payne, Commander of the US Navy Base at Sasebo, met with members of the Sasebo press on the base and discussed several base issues with them in a frank and off-the-record press meeting. The media took advantage of their audience to press Captain Payne to pay more attention to them and to have his press office be more responsive to their inquiries. Captain Payne pressed the media to be balanced, factual, and fair in their reporting, and to seek out base responses especially when they hear rumors that just don't seem to make sense.
