President Obama Visits Japan, Attends APEC Meetings

Nov. 16 - During his Nov. 12-14 visit to Japan, President Barack Obama attended the APEC Leaders' Summit and the CEO Business Summit, and held a number of bilateral meetings. Following his meeting with Prime Minister Kan where they launched a number of new initiatives, the President expressed his gratitude for the U.S. partnership with Japan saying, "We are bound by our people - our families, our businesses, students and tourists who bring us closer every day. We are partners in Asia and around the world. And as Prime Minister Kan noted, I expressed my deep appreciation for the fact that Japan is really a model citizen internationally and works in support of international rules and norms that can make all of us more prosperous and more secure."
